What is the Green Schools Challenge?

This is a yearly competition in which we encourage schools to undertake green project to make their school and/or communities a healthier place to live, learn, and grow.

The projects include raising awareness of environmental stewardship, reducing waste, energy and/or water use, or creating healthier spaces within your school.

There is no cost to compete and we encourage for projects to be low or no-cost projects. The projects that show the most impact per category; Elementary, Middle and High School, will win cash and prizes.

This program is designed to educate Louisiana about the benefits of green building and environmental stewardship by participation in hands-on, experiential projects.

The Green Schools Challenge provides all schools with the following:

  • USGBC, the foremost authority on green building, will provide mentors from our network of architects, engineers, and contractors to help schools implement successful projects.

More information and forms can be found in the Program Manual.

Become a Mentor:

A mentor is a professional that helps schools in defining a project, submitting information, and answering any questions they may have.

More information and forms can be found in the Program Manual.

Any school doing a green project may enter the Challenge.
